El Questro

Spectacularly perched above the Chamberlain Gorge, El Questro Homestead is the Kimberley’s most unique and most exclusive accommodation option. It rests within the El Questro Wilderness Park, which is more than 100kms from the nearest township. For a truly magnificent Kimberley retreat, there is no better place to stay than this five-star homestead.

The property can accommodate up to 18 adults, as there are nine exquisite rooms that boast king-sized beds for couples. The homestead does not allow children under 12, so guests are guaranteed a romantic retreat when staying here. El Questro Homestead rooms also contain a variety of state-of-the-art facilities, including ipod docking stations, sound-systems, and air-conditioning. However, what truly make this a memorable stay are the jaw-dropping gardens and views available from the rooms.

Guests will adore the breathtaking vistas of the surrounding Kimberley. Of course, they don’t have to stay in their room to experience these. Stroll across the lusciously landscaped lawns to the cliffs of Chamberlain Gorge, where the relaxing swimming pool overlooks the stunning river below.

Visitors don’t have to stay at the homestead, as private tour rangers provide guests with plenty of itineraries. A cruise of the Chamberlain River, where an array of fauna and flora like crocodiles and rock wallabies can be spotted, is great for an afternoon leisure activity. Bird-watching tours and trips to nearby landmarks are also on the cards too. If this sounds like too much, then guests can always stay and enjoy the delectable, five-star cuisine on offer at El Questro or sample the local wine as the sun pulls down the shades each evening.

The property is about 100kms from Kununurra. Take a four-wheel drive along the Great Northern Highway towards Wyndham for 60kms, then turn onto the rough and rustic Gibb River Road for another 50kms. Despite its remoteness, this celebrated homestead offers an unrivalled retreat for couples so it is well worth the drive.
